Restoring lost files can take time and effort, but Undelete Professional Edition aims to make the task a bit less painful. The program consists of several components. Recovery Bin looks like the Windows Recycle Bin but with some convenient and powerful enhancements. First of all, any file, however it was deleted, goes to this bin. Secondly, you can browse deleted files in the same way as in Windows Explorer. You can remotely restore files deleted on others computers in your network (a feature admins will find useful). Last but not least, you can keep several versions of each file. Emergency Undelete runs without an installation, which is crucial for protecting deleted files from being overwritten by the system. Finally, Undelete Professional Edition lets you recover previous versions of Office documents (there is a similar feature in MS Office, but it’s less convenient). At the same time, Undelete Professional Edition lacks a few powerful restoration features we’d like to see. For instance, it can’t find items on damaged partitions. That may rule it out for the most mission-critical applications, but it’s still a strong contender for small offices.
